I didn’t have either of those so I bought my supplies at Goodwill.
Instead of buying scrap fabric I decided to use a dress that was half-price. The jeans were half-price too!! I was so excited to get started making my skirt! My mom said she would help me so that I could get it done faster. I’ve made this kind of skirt before with Bethany but those skirts are too small now.
First what you need to do is get a seam ripper and start picking apart the seam of the inside of the leg. When you get all the way to the top then you continue picking down the other leg. Once you get started it's pretty easy.
Rip out the seam about 4 or 5 inches in the back until it lays flat and to where the zipper starts on the front.
Lay the pants out so they are flat and you can see the triangular area you will need to make a pattern to fit into. Tape a couple of pieces of paper together. Put the paper inside the pants and trace along the leg of the jeans with a pencil.
Make sure not to pull on the fabric while tracing!
Next Make dots around the outside of the triangle. use a ruler to make the dots 1/2 inch from the line. After you have done that cut on the doted line.
When you have cut out the triangle place it on the fabric and trace it with a pencil. Remember, don't pull on the fabric!
Step 7
Cut on the pencil line.
Lay the jeans out flat and place the fabric under the one side of the jeans.
Pin the fabric to the jeans.
Repeat steps 3-8 for the back
