This year we celebrated Sukkot with our Congregation. We made a sukkah together- super fun! For the roof everyone cut down branches, some of the little boys went so far as to cut down small trees. We used chicken wire on the top so the branches wouldn't fall through.

After putting on some dried peppers, fake pomegranates, lemons, grapes, branches and lights the sukkah was done.

There were a lot of hickory trees at the camp and the ground was covered in nuts! My friends and I collected some to take home so we could crack them open and eat the meat . There was a lady there who lived at the camp ground, she collected nuts too. She said she makes cakes, bread and pies with the hickory nuts.

Pranking got a little wild when someone decided to start a game where you get a cup full of water and find a victim to dump it on. It was even more fun when somebody got out a pitcher and poured it on people. One of the nights some of the kids got totally drenched in a water fight.  You always had to be on the look out, cause the splash would come when you least expected it.

Hanging out around the camp fire is one of the things we did almost every night. We told stories, sang songs and roasted  marshmallows (kosher :). It's heat also dried us off from the water fights.

Every morning we learned a new dance and had a worship service. The girls took turns teaching the dances and putting the Power Point for service.

Some of the other activates we did for Sukkot include; A talent show, reading stories, community meals, chili cook off, shooting at the range, slept in the sukkah and had a lot of fun. It was awesome just to get a taste of community. One of the things I really enjoyed was story time. some of the books we read were; The Squire And The Scroll, The Princess And The Kiss, The Keeping Quilt, Something From Nothing, The Boy And The Ocean, Martina The Beautiful Cockroach, The Mysterious Guests, and The House on the Roof.
I definitely hope we do our own sukkot again sometime!

Next year in Jerusalem,
