Yarn Projects

I thought I would show you some of the yarn projects I have finished and am working on in these last couple months.

One of the projects was a blanket for Joseph and I made a baby girl blanket because I did not know if Joe and Naomi were having a boy or a girl. I gave the boy blanket to Joseph and I put the baby girl blanket in my hope chest.

I made the baby boy blanket first because I had a feeling they were going to have a boy first.
Working on my yarn projects is relaxing while listening to music or while my mom reads aloud. If you don't get car sick, you can even work on knitting/crocheting while on a road trip.

What helps me to get projects done fast is if I have a deadline to get them done by.

Its really easy to make a washcloth in one day or to make a couple coasters.

A washcloth is a really good small project for a beginner, whether for someone learning to knit or crochet.

If you don't know how to knit or crochet and you don't know anyone who can, ask people at your church or try checking your public library for classes. If you still can't find anywhere to learn I used YouTube a couple times to learn how to make some things and I will defiantly be using it in the future.

Here are the blankets, washcloths and coasters.

Have you ever had a big box of scrap yarn and just did not know what to do with it? Well, that's how I felt when I looked at our box of yarn. So i decided to make a scrap baby afghan, I am using our biggest crochet hook (size L) and am using two strands at a time. It looks pretty good so far.

I am making it my goal to add lots of homemade projects to my Hope chest.
I hope that you will be inspired to make some of your own yarn creations.

Have a great week,

~Emily

I've been knitting a lot, too. It's so relaxing! I prefer knitting to crocheting, but that's probably because I'm a lot better at knitting. I've been making lots of hats and right now I'm making a summer shawl. It looks complicated, but it's mostly just knit 2 togethers and yarn overs. It's so fun though, and I enjoy it. I'm very blessed not to get car sick...:) I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't knit in the car.
