"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you." Isaiah 60:1
Let me introduce you to Rise Up, a Christian workout program that isn’t cheesy or annoying. Rise Up is led by Jennifer Brindley, an encouraging lady who is also a Health Coach, author and speaker. I think you will enjoy her positive personality!
In her book, “Health Shift”, Jennifer shares how she lost over 80 pounds by changing her health habits (which includes rising up every morning).
Rise Up is a beginner level workout designed for people who are just starting their fitness journey, this makes it great for elderly people too. Jennifer has a teaching style similar to Denise Austin in that she’s encouraging and likes to review healthy eating choices during the work out. The entire work out is usually under 40 minutes and includes a warm-up, cardio session (or ‘strength work out’), abdominal work, and stretch. Many secular work outs use trainers and participants who dress immodestly and/or have bad attitudes. However, Jennifer dresses modestly and has a friendly disposition, so if you’re used to secular trainers you will find this program a breath of fresh air.
Because I have built up my fitness over the years, I feel like the whole work out is a warm-up. Mrs. A, my friend who introduced me to Rise Up, suggested ‘intensifying’ the moves (i.e. rear-kicks in place of a walk-in-place). This was better but still not as intense as I would’ve liked. Nevertheless, I persevered for about 6 weeks (combined with walking and running). After 6 weeks on the program I realized that it wasn’t the type of workout that I needed. While I enjoyed Jennifer’s attitude, appreciated her modest dress and found the entire program relaxing… I was tired of the continual, repetitive reminders she gave during every workout, the work-out was too easy and I just needed a change! So, I switched it up with some other programs and was surprised how my fitness level had declined since starting Rise Up. If you aren’t used to consistent, more intense workouts then you can improve your fitness with Rise Up but if you are like me, then I would not recommend this workout for you.

You will need to get an account (it’s free). Also, you should know that the videos do not work using the Internet Explore browser, so you may need to use a different one (I use Firefox).
What do you do to stay fit? Farm chores? Running? Davidic Dance?
Happy Trails!
