Proverbs 15:13 "A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit

This past December my sisters and I started a bible study/game night with some of our friends.
We have been studying the book of James. We start with prayer and then we have our bible study and then after the study we have snacks and play games. It’s a great time to get to know each other better and to encourage one another in the faith. We have not finished studying the book yet, but here are some verses that stuck out to me so far: "This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God." James 1:19-20 "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was." James 1:22-24 "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder." James 2:17-19 "Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things." James 3:4-5 I encourage you to start a Bible study with your friends or just a get together with friends and take turns reading God's word as a group of friends. We have all had a lot of fun learning more about Yahweh and his ways, and I hope you will too! Shalom and have a great day! Emily So, you might be wondering...
What's coming up in January? Well.... This week: Emily will be posting a yummy recipe for "Tapioca Pudding". Affectionately called "fish eggs" by some :) Next week: Naomi will be posting a recipe and review for homemade lip balm. Bethany will be sharing about the beautiful "Shema" Painting she is making for the entry way. In the second half of January you can look forward to: Fruits of the Spirit Part 2 by Lydia Bible Study/Game Night by Emily Set Apart Reading Part 2 by Bethany The Importance of Conversation by Naomi -Naomi- Dates and topics are subject to change without notice. ;) I think it is important to spend time with our brothers because they will not stay young forever. My brother Sherman is 13 and my brother Clayton is 11. Sherman likes to learn about Science, creation, gardening, farming, and the Bible. Clayton likes to build mini weapons of mass destruction, he likes to practice his aim while he shoots his air soft guns, he also likes to rollerblade and play outside. It is important to spend time with our brothers because they grow up so quick and we need to build our relationships with them while they are still young. When I spend time with my brothers we like to shoot air soft guns, build forts in the woods, rollerblade, play at the park with friends, go hiking, play board games and just have fun in whatever we are doing together. Some ideas of what you can do with your brothers: Play board games, play card games, make a meal together, read books to together, play outside games with them (ex. tag, freeze tag, capture the flag), go on a hike, volunteer somewhere, go to the park, go on a bike ride, and there are many other things I can’t think of ,so, if you have more ideas comment and tell us! 'Till next time, Emily Here's a picture of me with all my siblings.

At least that’s what I used to think. You think you would much rather read or something like that but just try it, because once you start playing you have a lot of fun! You can serve YHWH by the way you speak and act. To me it is very important to spend time with your family and have a cheerful attitude even though you may not want to. It is a lot easier to grow closer and get to know each other better when you have a good attitude. Also don’t only gather together to play games but to pray, talk and study. As Joshua 24:14-15 says “Now fear YHWH and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the river and in Egypt, and serve YHWH. But if serving YHWH seems undesirable to you, then chose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, weather the gods your forefathers served beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve YHWH.” Serving YHWH as a family could include praying and doing service projects together. One of my favorite ways to spend time as a family is on feast days (Leviticus 23) for example, Sukkot takes a lot of time being together: packing, planning, getting along, worshiping, laughing, eating and playing together.
